Better Than the Movies

Perpetual daydreamer Liz Buxbaum has been in love with Michael for a long time. Unfortunately, Michael never noticed her before he moved away. Now that he’s back in town, Liz is determined to get his attention and maybe even convince him to be her prom date, even if it means befriending Wes Bennet.

Wes, Liz’s next-door neighbor, may seem like the perfect candidate for romantic comedy fantasies, but he has always been a nuisance to Liz since they were kids. Pranks involving frogs and decapitated lawn gnomes do not make for a potential boyfriend. Yet, surprisingly, Wes and Michael hit it off, which gives Liz an opportunity to get closer to Michael.

As Liz and Wes plot to get Michael’s attention, Liz is surprised to find that she enjoys spending time with Wes. As they become closer, she begins to question everything she thought she knew about love and reconsider her ideas of what a happy ending should look like.
